Re Cineplayer Will Not Start

peterdomo

Question

Some time ago I posted about a problem with Cineplayer. After the flash screen appears for a few seconds the program closes. I sent an error report to Microsoft each time I attempted to start the program and finally received a reply which does not offer a solution but does attribute the problem to Renderer.dll.

If that gives anyone a clue to a solution, I will be delighted.

cdanteek got me thinking and re-checking!

Of the PCs that have the CinePlayer in the Control Panel… Both had other installs!

One had V10 and while I have done at least one Clean Install since then, I believe the Control Panel entry gets missed.

The other PC was a Doh moment! I installed V9 after V2D and forgot that little fact… V2D does not include CinePlayer.

So the little puppy is not installed in CinePlayer 5.0 and I apologize for the confusion and anguish I caused

Peter,

Clean installs are not going to solve this problem. Roxio/Sonic have some work to do.

Dave

Here's a new twist Dave. Roxio support suggests I make some changes to Cineplayer in Control Panel. Cineplayer does not appear in Control Panel on my Vista partition. It is in Control Panel when I run XP.

Tried yet another clean install but, of course, that did no good. I presume, for some reason, Cineplayer installation is not completing although Creator seems to think everything went just fine.

Cineplayer DVD Decoder Options shows up in my Control Panel with VISTA. Interesting is the fact that the decoders are version 4.2 and the Cineplayer splash screen indicates version 5. I tried changing the settings via the control panel and rebooting in between but no luck. There are about 5 posts about Cineplayer not working on this bulletin board so we are not alone.

But there are more than 5 postings - I have turned it in for a look see.

Peter,

Are you running XP or VISTA and what maintenance level are you at? I am also seeing the same problem with Creator 2009. Also, what are your system specs?

Dave

Thanks Dave.

I have a dual boot system with XP pro Sp3 and Vista Business Sp1. Everything works fine on the XP system. Everything except Cineplayer works fine on the Vista system. I have tried three clean installs. I have also tried Creator 9 (Sp3) with the original Vista, the Sp1 and the Sp2 beta - all with the same results.

My video card has the latest driver.

Here is the info re the Vista system:
