Video Copy And Convert Window Crashes

mfong288

Question

When I use the VIDEO COPY & CONVERT WINDOW in Creator 2209Ultimate to copy a DVD Video folder that has files greater than 4.7 gb, the program would crash. This happens to different files that I tried to copy and convert to a DVD. I even tried to use the mode selection buttons to change to video compilation and it would work as long as I only copy files that are less than 4.7 gb. Does the program compress the files automatically or do I have to manually set the compression feature? I uninstalled Creator 2009 and reinstalled Creator 8 and I had no problem copying the DVD file, as it automatically compress the files to fit the DVD. The "VIDEO_TS" folder has a valid DVD-Video source content and is not copyright. I never had this problem when using Creator 8.

I am using a Dell Intel Core 2 quad running Windows Vista Ultimate.

Thanks in advance for any advice or solution to this problem.

Never seen that one…

A VIDEO_TS folder will never contain a file greater than 1GB but I think you are referring to Time or the total content.

Are you using Video Compilation and not DVD Video Copy?

Compression is automatic and it will indicate at the bottom what it thinks of the quality.

What do you have the Size set for at the bottom – CD-R will kill it fast!

Here is VCC with 4 hours ready to pack into a 4.7Gb disc:

Here's something you can try that may help you get past the "crashing" in VCC.

Open VCC and select your video folder you want to copy. Select your destination (I would do it to another video folder or an image file). Now down in the Size: box, change it to something different than what you want (like DVD + double Layer). Now switch it back to the size you want (DVD-R / DVD+R). Now start it.

Thanks for the advice, but still did not work. Roxio support finally reply back and asked me to update my video card. Did it and still did not resolve the problem. They told me to send in my compter spec. So I did that and going to wait for their reply. Anyone else have problem compressing a 7GB DVD file to a standard 4 gb DVD? Did not have this problem when I am using Creator 8.

Hi Jim,

Thank you for your help on this. Actually, my video_TS folder is 7.35 GB. The original source that I got the video from was from a dual layer DVD. There are 3 chapters of video on it. Total run time is 2 hhrs. 35 mins. I even tried to use a dual layer blank DVD and tried to change the dvd type to dual layer, but it still crashed right after I add the file. I figure the folder is too large to compress, so I use the video compilation tap. But same problem. The funny thing is that it crashed when I add the movie, even before I push the burn button. Again on my Creative 8, I had no trouble accomplishing the task. Anyway, Thanks for letting me know that compression is automatic. On my Creative 8, the meter on the bottom of the screen will change color when there is compression (from Green - identical, Orange - some compression, red - highly compressed. I assume that this is what supposed to happen for my creative 2009. I will reinstall it and update it with patches and see if it will will resolve itself.

Let us know.

There have been some with problems using DL but as soon as we try to work with them, they disappear…

It should not matter, but try to keep it 'dash' to 'dash' or 'plus' to 'plus' types. They work very differently.

I am assuming these are not some decrypted copyrighted discs??? DRM is tighter these days.

Hi Jim,

same problem, it would not compress the files. I can add small files, but anything over 4482mb, it crashes. I have always used DVD + (either Maxell or Sony). I do believe it is the program and not the disc nor the drive because it crashes when I add the files, not when I burn. Also, everything works fine when I use my older version of Creator 8. I don't know why it won't compress. When I use Creator 8, when the file is too big to compress, it at lease gives a message, file to big to compress. Nope not decrypted copyright discs.

You can believe it is the program if you want to, but I have done 4 hour projects with it…

Now 6 hour failed so the upper limit is somewhere between the 2.

You keep talking in file size which is a totally useless measure in the Video world. We talk in TIME!

Where did this jewel come from and how long (time) is the movie?

The total time is 2 hours and 35 mins. Does your compression bar work on your program? It does not seem to work with my Roxio Creator 2009 Ultimate. When using Creator 8, I see the compression bar turn red and it states that it is highly compressed, but the buring work and had no problem playing it on a DVD player. However on the Creator 2009 Ultimate, when the green bar reaches the end, the program crashes. I submitted a help ticket on the support site and they send me a link on how to use TOAST. I reply back stating that I have a PC and not a Mac. Have not heard back from them since.
