Splitting Video Or Adding Chapters To One Video File

Muireadach

Question

I captured some 8mm tapes and burned them straight to disk. When played on my TV DVD player, I cannot fast forward or move to chapters. This means you have to sit and watch the whole 2-hour disk to get to the later parts.

I want to be able to jump around or at least fast forward. Can this only be done by capturing the tape in segments, or can it be done afterward? I'll gladly buy a new DVD player if that's the solution. Thanks in advance.

Great, if you need to do any editing, you can add 'edit' marks in Videowave that will be translated into Chapter marks in MyDVD, but I still find it just as easy to do all the chapter marks in MyDVD. After you add the video to MyDVD, just right click on the button and choose Edit Chapters. You can add the marks manually or automatically add a mark every so many minutes/seconds.

For creating chapters, take a look at this post that suggests using chapter markers. This will necessitate the use of Videowave, MyDVD and Video Copy and Convert programs (they are all part of the Creator 2009 suite).
