I Didn't Write That

Magic Man NYC

Question

When making a disk on Toast 9 I write in information saying the title of the cd, the artist's name and the track name and then go to make the music cd. When I mount the completed cd something completlely different comes up as the title of the cd, track and artist. What is going on and how can I fix it?

You will need to edit the incorrect info in iTunes.

What has happened is the Mac OS has downloaded album/artist/track info from the online CDDB that happens to match the number of tracks and track lengths of your audio CD.

The information you entered in Toast is CD Text info burned to the audio CD. However, Macs don't read CD Text but rather download info from CDDB and write it to a cdinfo file in your library. The only way to modify what is written in the cdinfo library is to edit the text in iTunes.

There is an applescript at dougscripts.com that automates replacing the information in the library with info from CD Text. It is called CD Text to CDinfo.
