Problems With Clean Install Of Creator 2009

caraway

Question

I am following the instruction for clean install of creator 2009 to my Vista Business program and I have gotten to the part where I click on the link to download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility package. Once downloaded I try to run the file (it doesn't give me the option to save to my desktop) and I get this message:

Script

C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local\Temp\IXP000.TMP\Start Msi.vbs

Line: 17

Char: 1

Error: Permission denied

Code: 800A0046

Source: Microsoft VBScript runtime error

Getting very frustrated.

I managed to figure out how to get the program to run, and I installed it and followed the rest of the process. However, this hasn't resolved my initial problem, which is that I can't get DVDs to play on Creator 2009 Cineplayer.

To begin with the video playback was choppy and out of time with the audio, which seemed to be playing fine. I looked for an answer and found a topic on this site which recommended I update my graphics card driver (NVIDIA GeForce 8400M G).

I did this and then the Cineplayer would not play at all. It would begin the audio but not the video, and then the whole thing would hang and stop responding. I have done a clean install of creator 2009 following the instructions given on this site and it has made no difference at all.

I have not had the time to check whether all of the other functions of creator 2009 are working, but I have checked the audio, and it seems to be doing what it should. I tried creating a slide show and that worked okay as well. Can anyone help?

There's a decent chance that you shouldn't have needed to use the Windows Install Cleanup Utility at all.

The directions say to use Add/Remove in the Control Panel and then use it if you have problems or entries left.

If all you did was use the WICU then you didn't really uninstall the app.All you did was remove the install instructions and tell Windows it wasn't installed anymore.

If the Uninstall from the Control Panel worked correctly then you should not have had any of the Roxio entries left for the WICU to find.

If all you did was use the WICU then go back and do the clean install again, this time using Add/Remove to uninstall the app.

Go to the nVidia Control Panel and set it to 'Let the 3D application Decide'. That should be the default, but some people change it.

Hi all, I thought I should update this to let you know that I have resolved this particular problem. None of the clean installing, graphics card updating, installing directX 9.0c (which didn't work because 10 just overrode it anyway) made any difference at all.

I appreciate, though, that people took the time to try to help me.

What finally did the trick was to open Cineplayer without inserting any dvd and to go into 'Settings', then I selected 'Video' then 'Hardware Acceleration (DXVA)' and changed it from 'Use if available' to 'Off' and that was it! It worked and I can now play dvds and both the video and audio quality are great.

Thank you all for your help.

Check that you have DirectX 9.0c (latest version) installed. If necessary get it from MS.

You are using Vista and that has DirectX 10 but not 9.

Also, did you update the graphics from nVidia or elsewhere?

I updated the graphics from nVidia. I will try your DirectX 9.0c suggestion.

Hi, Yes, I do have my control panel set to the default. I don't like to fiddle with what I don't understand.
