Capture Now Problem

dolphconn

Question

I just installed this program and finished my first VHS to DVD burn. I now tried to burn another VHS movie and the "CAPTURE NOW" button will not activate. Is it because it could be a COPYRIGHT VIDEO? I used to use a VHS to DVD recorder and if I came across a video that was COPYRIGHT protected it would warn you and not record it. Is this the reason why and if so why is there no warning?

I'm dissapointed with this product especially because the manual is of no help at all with troubleshooting.

Are you trying to capture a commercial / copyrighted tape? If so, you are out of luck.

I have a whole bunch of si-fi classic VHS tapes that I'm trying to convert to DVD's, they all have the usual copyright protection lingo but some I can burn to a DVD and some just pop up with a warning that it cannot burn the contents. That was with my recorder that eventually broke down. Now with this program it just has no answer to what is happening.

UPDATE......

I just realized that the first video that recorded to DVD has skipping issues with the sound. That's another reason to throw this thing out the window.

Three equivalent phrases:

"copyright protection lingo" = illegal to copy = Roxio won't touch it.

Understand your frustration but you will fill your yard up with discarded capture devices if you don't stop and take the time to work through your problems!

Have you applied the SP2 which is listed in the pinned post at the top of this forum?

If copy protection is detected on a tape Roxio will post a message in red lettering about it. Nothing subtle, it will be noticed. Of course it is illegal to copy copyrighted material.

How about listing your PC specs, it sounds like some of your problems could be from trying to use a PC that isn't up to the task.

It usually states on the cassette case (and at the start of the video) that it's illegal to copy, distribute, give public performance, etc, etc.

What they don't mention is that quite often there is actually a protection system recorded ON the tape and that's what stops the copying ;)
