Analogue Transfer

I see many threads about transferring digital recordings to my PC but none so far about analogue. What is the best way to connect my old Panasonic camcorder to my PC so that video capture has a chance? Also, is it possible to create soundtrack cds from dvds? I'm sorry if this makes me look a bit stupid but I'm new to this and can't find my way round all the forums yet.

There are plenty of threads on Analog capture. Roxio has it's own USB analog video capture device now plus Creator 2009 is compatible with many other analog devices. I have no problem capturing from the Hauppauge WinTV card.
