WHEN I TRY TO CAPTURE THE VHS TAPE, I GET THE ERROR "UNKNOWN CAPTURE ERROR" AND IT STOPS CAPTURING.

THIS HAPPENS ON BOTH MY DESKTOP AND LAPTOP.

What types of VHS tapes are you trying to capture, home movies? Is it possible the tapes are copyrighted? If they are not copyrighted, please supply additional info. re: your pcs, and how exactly you have connected your pc to the VHS player.

Also, try not to use the ALL CAPS button.

Standard VHS tapes-definitely not copyrighted!

Connected the vhs player to the pc by the usb connection in the easy vhs to dvd roxio package.

Remember, both my desktop and brand new sony Vaio laptop are giving me the same message.

I doni't get it!

Best way to solve the problem is probably to bring the program and hardware back to the store.
