gridloktu
Hi folks, All of a sudden, I can't back up my data, (pictures) because Creator 6 encounters a problem and shuts down. It has always worked before and I haven't changed anything on my XP system. I am told I have the latest software updates and the DVD builder still works. Ever hear of this? How much nonsense am I going to have to go through to fix this? Any help would be appreciated. Gridloktu

I DID actually look at the FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS and that is when I decided to post my question, "Had anyone heard of this before?" I was hoping to get away with the basics because Iam not sure how to copy the error message and post it on to you. I will do my best to get more info but it will take me a while. Gridloktu So, basicly, using some program or other, you are trying to add some kind or other of files, to some kind or other of media - whether or not it has something on it, using some kind of burner, and a WinXP Operating System. Sorry, that's not enough to go on. Lynn
gridloktu
The program which no longer will open is "Creator Classic" from the Creator 6 platinum suite. I am running Winxp home with all service packs (2) and updates - none of them done recently. It is a 2.8 Athlon with 1 G ram and lots of room on hard drive. My Roxio Easy CD+DVD Creator version 6.2.0.110. My DVD playeris Lite-on DVDRW LDW-451S.the error message is: AppName: creatorc.exe AppVer: 6.2.0.111 ModName:mfc42.dll ModVer: 6.2.4131.0.Offset: 00002b1b. Hope this makes it easier for you. Try uninstall/re-install Go into your add/remove programs and remove Roxio.......then use this Roxio utility called Roxizap that you can use to remove all remnants of Roxio/Adaptec software for you. You can get roxizap here: http://tools.roxio.com/support/tools/roxizap.exe Then re-install from your installation disc. If you require any updates they are on the left of this page (Software Updates) make sure you apply the correct one, Basic or Platinum. If this does not help you get back on here. lynn98109
Altho if the problem has to do with a failing CD-RW, or adding to a disc that is closed or full, that might not help. (CD-RWs are best used for testing, and for LOSING data permantly.) Lynn
gridloktu
Hi again, I deleted and re-installed my Roxio Creator 6 Platinum suite. I can still access the DVD builder but the Creator Classic still does not come up. It's not that it doesn't copy properly - it's that the program will not start for some reason. I installed the updates to version 6.2.0.110 and I always use new DVD-R discs. Also the Roxizap recomended says not to use it on ver 6, only 4 & 5. Any thoughts on this? GRidloktu When Windows add/remove removes a program, it just removes enough so it doesn't work and often won't re-install. Roxizap gets EVERYTHING Roxio/Adaptec out (which is why you should do an add/remove of GoBack if you are running it, so it will be restored by a reinstall). Once the slate is clear, the reinstall should solve the problems. Lynn
gridloktu
I just burned a backup DVD! Getting rid of Goback was what made the difference. I never would have guessed that one. Thanks a million! Gridloktu

Gridloktu The reason for removing GoBack is only that, because it was once a Roxio product, roxizap would take it out otherwise. You can reinstall it after you run roxizap.
