Help, Need To Create And Edit A Movie From Video File

Anyone, I'm in a jam... I just need a little on the basics. How can I use Creator 9 (or MyDVD, whichever is better-I have both) to import a video file, edit and save. I need a 2 minute video cut from about 2 hours of footage that is saved in 4 video files (mpg) on my hard drive. I just need the first 3 or 4 steps such as import the video file, edit, save project and add additional cuts to project. Thanks !!
