Drives Set To Disables Error...help

I get the following message starting this program in Vista..... All your drives are set to disable. On this operating system, in order to start Roxio cd & dvd burning you must physically remove you drive(s)or enable at least one.

I have tried running the DLA patch and the PX patch provided by Sonic through this site, uninstall and reinstall, without any success. Just bought the program 3 months ago, it is Vista compatible, and I had it working on XP before I upgraded to Vista (big mistake).

Any further suggestions?

Try this:

 

-Go into Windows Device Manager

-set each of your CD/DVD drives to "Disabled"

-reset them each to "enabled"

-exit Device Manager

 

Please report back whether it worked or not.

Mine doesn't, but no matter. If it wants a restart then do it.

Disable / enable drives did not work. Thanks for the suggestion though. I even tried downloading more recent drive versions but not successful. Also did uninstall / install with no success.

I have dicided to give up on this program judging by the comments throughout this site. Will look into more recent program from Roxio.

Part of it depends on how you 'upgraded' to Vista

 

If you upgraded an existing XP installation, that brings problems along with it - far better to back up datya and do a 'clean' install on a blank drive

 

If the drives are 'missing' in Vista itself, go to device manager and find the IDE controllers - uninstall those and reboot. Hopefully Vista will then see them and re-install
