Toast Burning Iso Images Stored On Windows Server

Johnatbmd

Question

Checking before I pay the upgrade fee from 9 to 10.

I keep all my DVD images in ISO form on a Win2K3 server and used to just drag the image to Toast and burn away. Once I upgraded to Leopard and then got the 10.5.6 patch i could no longer do this. Errors were usually something akin to unable to read this format. But if I copied the ISO file local Toast had no problems. So it's something about Leopard 10.5.6+SMB+Toast. In fact post-Leopard i could no longer even mount ISO images with Toast.

Disk Utility; no problems burning ISO from server. Toast; problems.

So the question is is anyone here using Toast 10 + ISO images on a Win server?

I have no way of knowing. However, Leopard did change the SAMBA networking. When an ISO file is selected using the Image File setting in Toast, Toast mounts the image. If it can't mount it due to Leopard networking issues then my guess is it won't make the copy unless you first copy the ISO to the Mac.

This is genuine SMB not Samba. Samba is an SMB clone. I actually can mount and burn ISO images from my linux test box. ANd it's not just this one Windows server. I can duplicate the problem on another Win2K3 server.

All I know is the networking with Windows changed in OS 10.5. If the .iso can be mounted on the Mac then I expect Toast can burn it, otherwise I expect it cannot.

You can purchase Toast 10 as a download from Roxio and return it for a refund within 30 days if it doesn't meet your needs.
