Movie Audio Problems

I have captured several interviews in MPG2 and AVI format and have them stored on my USB drive. When I upload to Roxio Creator 2009, I can hear the audio track in playback, but when I create a video for a movie, the audio disappears. I have tried for several hours to resolve this issue without any success. I have the same problem in the basic and advanced editing programs. I can add music, but there is still no audio.

Is the auio track mono or stereo? What file format for the audio -- use gspot to determine that and if you have the right codecs installed.

 

Could it be a volume isue?
