How Do I Add A File To An Image?

Marvin Lambert

Question

and I want to add a file to these images. How do I open the image file, and just add another file to the image? I have isomagic on the PC, but I am now currently on a Mac. I used Toast 10 titanium to create the images. How do I open them to see the files in there, and just add a file? I am used to working with image files, but not the mac!

Also, if i change the extension of say .toast to a .iso, will is still function as an image file if I move it over to the PC? Or what do I need to know about these different image file extensions?? Other than, a PC may not be able to recognize a .dmg... (I tried to search for this topic, and i kept getting an error, and could not see to figure that out even! going to a new computing platform can sometimes be very frustrating!)

Thank you!

Launch Toast and select the "Image File" format from the "Copy" tab. Choose the created .toast image file by clicking the "Select" button or by double clicking the .toast file. Once the file is selected (a summary will display once the image is recognized) click the "Mount" button located next to the "Select" button. The disc image should now be mounted to the desktop. Select the "Data" tab, toast offers several data formats to choose from (ISO, MAC/PC, etc). Once the data option is chosen drag the mounted disc from the toast image into the project window. All of the content from the disc will added to the project window. This is where you would then add or delete files, in your case you want to add a file, so simply add the file to the project window. Toast will allow you to create a new disc image by selecting "Save as Disc Image" from the File "menu" or selecting the "Save as Disc Image" button located next to the Red recording button.

Instead of changing the extension on the image file, following the mentioned steps will create an ISO image file if "ISO" is chosen from the "Data" format.

benndogg is right on.

You also have the option to create a disc image that has room for more content that can be added in the Finder. Go to the Toast Utilities window and choose Create Temporary Partition. Now choose a size for that partition. You can drag whatever you want into the mounted partition until it is full. You can then unmount (eject) the partition and you have a disc image file. When you quit Toast it will ask if you want to keep or discard the temporary partition and of course you want to keep it.

At any time you can control-click on the disc image file and choose Mount It from the contextual menu and add or delete contents.
