Menus

Question

Two questions

1. In the MyDVD section of Cteator 2009, under Menu Styles / More Styles / More Styles are available for download. Click to proceed, this only links to http://www.roxio.com/ . From there where do I go to download additional menu styles?

2. Is it possible to create a custom menu which is completely plain?

I have many videos which I would like to place on a menu (actually it will be several menus or menu sheets due to the high number), as text labelled thumbnails.

I would like to use a menu with just a simple plain background (but with choice of colour) with no other features or animations but with all the functionality of the (81) main pre-defined menus.

I would then like to save this as my standard menu.

I hope this clarifies things.

I tried the link you suggested but couldn't make it do what I'm looking for.

Actually, Outline for text doesn't do what you want either. It just outlines the text characters similar to Highlight for buttons. Sounds like a good suggestion for the next version.

This is true - let's hope someone takes notice!

Many thanks for the reply

What was the problem? Try also just replacing the menu background with a jpg image of a color panel; delete that audio.

You do know that you can put only one hour of video on a DVD at best quality? More if you don't mind watching poor quality video.

In reference to #1, I too was disapointed that there aren't more styles like those shown for Photoshow. I expected the product to have the same type functionality as Photoshow plus more. I wish all the Styles and Effects for Photoshow were included in Creator 2009 or we were given access to Photoshow Premium for purchasing Creator 2009. I need the video, music and other capabilities of Creator, but when I want to make a slideshow it seems silly that I should have to purchase another program to have access to the variety of styles, animated stickers, syaings, etc. Especially when Creator has the same capabilities as Photoshow.

Hi Sknis

Many thanks for the reply.

Using a blank jpg image solved the problem.

The video I'm using is actually a series of video clips which themselves are digital photo compilations and their total length will be well less than 1 hour.

I do however have another question in that connection.

In MyDVD, I have imported these video clips onto menus (4 to a page) and set each button to show a still image from the clip so they look like thumbnails. All that's OK.

But when I look at the preview, the selection highlight obscures the image (thumbnail) unless transparency is set to high.

Other systems use a highlighting border around the thumbnail to identify selection.

Can this be done in MyDVD?

Your views would be appreciated

You didn't find any of the 81 or so that you liked?

2) Yes, although I'm not sure what you mean by plain. If you have only one movie that you want to put on a disc, you don't need a menu (New project, DVD no menus)

1) That is an old link that should be removed.

You are talking about two completely different applications that were written by two different companies. Sonic/Roxio bought or merged with Photoshow just last year. If Sonic/Roxio ever decides to integrate any of the Photoshow features into their applications, it could take years.

Oh, I didn't realize they were a recent acquisition. It just seems unusual because it seems as though Creator Ultimate is there flagship product and PhotoShow has more features with respect to slideshows. I still think they should included a PhotoShow Premium membership in the purchase of Creator 2009 Ultimate, then they would have to integrate and new features. The online tab already links the two, you just have to have an additional membership (for $30 more) to access most features. I'm probably crazy, but I think it should be included Ultimate.

Click the thumbnail

ON the menu, VIEW / Settings

For BUTTON highlight, choose 'outline'.

My example shows text button highlight.

I select the Button/Thunbnail, but 'Text Highlight' is greyed out.

'Button Highlight' is available but only offers 4 choices:-

'None', 'Extent', 'Highlight', and 'Highlight & Extent',

but not 'Outline'
