Random Transitions

Question

I am new to community forums and do not know anything about proper protocol. Please bear with me. Any help or suggestions regarding participation in these discussions are greatly appreciated. I have two concerns. First; when I use "Add a CineMagic Movie", after I added several photos or videos, click “next” another dialogue appears that I do not understand having to do with duration of photos and production duration. I click finish I always get a dialogue that states “For optimal results, CineMagic requires your source video footage to be twice as long as your requested project duration.” If I chose "yes" CineMagic will generate a shorter project. What does this mean? Neither the tutorial, nor the help files explain anything at all and I cannot find any thing in the user manual. Second; with Windows XP Professional SP2, while using the "Edit Movie" feature in MyDVD many Transition Theme choices are available. Among those choices there is not an option for random transitions or pot luck. My grandson has a laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium. He is using the same version Of Roxio 2009 that I have. On his machine he has an option for random transitions and pot luck plus many other choices that I do not have. Is this a Vista vs. XP issue or did I by chance get a bad download?

Familiar with the concept of Paragraphs?

Forget about CineMagic and use VideoWave (Edit Video – Advanced) which is full featured editor.

After you have everything the way you want it, save the project and go into MyDVD to burn it.

Oh, transitions shorten a production – If you have 2 pictures of 5 second duration your show is 10 seconds. If you add a 5 second transition your show is now 5 seconds long! The transition uses 2.5 sec. from slide one and 2.5 sec. from slide 2 leaving only 2.5 sec. for the 2 slides…

Thanks, and you are right. I did get a bit wordy there; I do apologize.

I just finished a 29 minute project (197 frames) with VideoWave and I am surprised. It is very much like EMC 7.5 (which I have used for a few years). The finished product was, to say the least, impressive. I did have to set the auto motion, the slide duration and the transition duration separately for each frame. This was a bit tedious but with the help of my time calculator the show ended right on time with the music.
