My Music Folders

I have my music folders in a specific order (patriotic, wedding, etc) in file folders so I know right where to go for a song. For some reason, overnight, there are about 5 songs that end up in an "unknown artist" file. I go back, reaname, put them where they belong, delete the "unknown artist" file but there they are again. I would like to add the artists name but can't figure out how to do that under the "artist" tab. Is there away to manually add the name of the artist under that specific tab? This is driving me crazy. Thanks in advance. Mary

I am sorry but I have no idea what you are trying to do  or what you are doing

You will have to tell us at least that, as well as what program from what suite you are using

Is this in Roxio?

I know that if you use Windows Media Player and allow Internet download info then what will happen is sometimes WMP will download additional info that changes file attributes, namely the Artist and Album Artist. This sometimes makes files show up as Unknown Artist.

I'm sorry, I should have explained more. I posted this question under "General Chat" because it realy doesn't have anything to do with a program. I use Roxio EMC9 and use Videowave all the time.

All my music is in file folders under Documents/Music on my computer - most of them are single songs, not an entire CD. When I copy a single song to my hard drive, it goes into an "unknown artist" file generated automatically by my computer and is listed as "track 1"," track 2" etc.. I then rename the song and drag it to the folder I want to store it in. But for some reason I will come back a day or say later, and it is back in a folder called "unknown artist". I'm not even sure I can add the artist's name under the column called "artist", and not even sure that will solve my problem. Just thought I'd see if anyone else had this same problem. Thanks for taking the time time read this - still not sure I explained it properly. Mary
