Video Capture Program Quit Loading

Rich Vista

Question

I have a new 64 bit HP Laptop with Vista Home-64 bit.

All was working until the computer hung for some unknown reason. I had to power down the computer and restart. All the Creator Programs work except for Video Capture. Ti acts like it is loading for about two seconds then quits loading and goes back to the main menu.

I went through a complete clean uninstall-reinstall and it still acts the same way.

Once while trying to load it I got a message that only one copy of the program can be run at a time. This is the only error message I have received...

Does it think another copy is running ?????

I cleaned the temp files using windows and no change.

Where can I go from here???

Thanks in advance for the help...

Launch the Task Manager and under the Processes check to see if Videowave.exe or myDVD.exe is running. If yes then end the processes before trying to launch either Videowave or myDVD.

Hello..

That was one of the first things I did.. I had other problems in the past with Creator 2009 programs loading and had to scrub the disk and reload the operating system and up. I do not desire to do that again. I keep the computer with minimum programs and use it mainly for video editing.

I had run Creator for about 4 weeks with no problems during this period. I have used the software mainly to download programs either through firewire or roxio's usb card ( this was what I was using when the computer hung )

Thanks

Need to clear that one up a little…

"Download" = receiving a file from the Internet.

"roxio's usb card" = they don't make any???

Perhaps you mean you are using Roxio Easy Capture USB, which is an A/D converter that allows you to capture video through USB???

Best bet would be to follow the Clean Install procedure. Print it out and go through it line by line to make sure you aren't missing anyting.

Hello again.

The Roxio USB card I was referring to is the "Easy Capture Card" and the downloading I was referring to is the videos I was capturing.

I got tired fooling around with locating the error and reformatted the hard disk and reloaded the programs and data. I had spent about 16 hours trying to repair the problem then it took 3 hours to reload. Problem solved... Now to see how long until it reoccurs...

I have no idea what you are talking about when you talk about a "Roxio USB card" or an "Easy Capture Card". Roxio does not have or make such a device.
