Can't Install At All!

FrustratedLateAtNight

Question

I have tried installing this software at least 10 times and it keeps acting as though it is going to install and then tells me it is finished after about 5 minutes. Then nothing! I am so tired of making the attempts, it is driving me crazy. I have defragged my computer, made sure I have plenty of room, etc. etc. etc. :angry2:

Anyone else have that problem?

I do appreciate the replies...it has taken me a while to get back to my machine to try again. The problem is that it appears to be installing, then pops up the install success! window which is after approximately 5 minutes. The program is nowhere to be found. I tried it on my husband's laptop and it loaded after going through about a 45 minute process, but I don't want it on his machine (he won't use it). I put it on his just to see if it would actually install.

I have Windows XP not Vista, so don't know if the dll rename is something that pertains.

Any other ideas or should I go ahead and try renaming the dll in setup as indicated in the knowledge base article you sent? - Vicki

You don't usually have folks, who are having no problems with the software, posting in forums like this. They don't need to, because they are having no problems. ;)

I feel your pain...I have done all the cleaning, deinstalling, reconfiguring, etc that I can do and I STILL cannot get it to install. I was successful in registering the product, but cannot get it installed! It hangs at the very beginning of the install where it is installing Windows.net something or other. It hangs there for about 4 minutes and then pops up with the notice that it has installed successfully and there is NOTHING! Any ideas?

Okay ... I have looked through the System32 folder and cannot find the dsetup.dll. I cleaned out a bunch of junk files and that didn't work.

I started the install program, entered the requied key and info, the install starts and hangs at Status: Installing Microsoft.Net v3.5

The setup wuzard has completed successfully. Click finish to exit the Setup Wizard.

Well, guess what ... no Roxio Creator 2009

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

HHH :angry2:

I am having the same problem and just sent another email to tech support. The last suggestion was to install service pack 3 but can't install if there is no software in there. If I can solve it will post the solution.

Rest assured! You are not alone! I just got Creator 2009, Special Edition at COSTCO, and it has repeatedly "bombed" when trying to install it in VISTA. I am getting an error message. "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access this item." I really do not wish to get into "Editing my System Registry", and am ready to return this to COSTCO. Any suggestions?

Sounds like either you don't have admin rights to install or you have a firewall issue. Turn off any internet security and virus programs and make sure your in an account that has administrative rights and try to install.
