Product Will Not Install

Question

I have installed and uninstalled this product three times. Per Roxio's instructions, I have eliminated startup programs (not necessary since I have more than sufficient memory and hard drive space available); disabled Norton Internet Security (not mentioned in the installation instructions); and downloaded the Roxio updates and the software still freezes at the same place -- online registration. I have to go to msconfig and then services to terminate the Roxio screen. I have Windows XP, SP3 -- this shouldn't be rocket science stuff!!

this is the third day in row that the software has freezed at the Online Registration window. No assistance from Roxio

 

Online registration is not part of the installation. Look through this http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=49170

 

The registration opens when you first launch the program, have you tried cancel?

 

No need to open msconfig and mess around with services, that could cause you and your pc big problems.

 

Right click the task bar, click/open task manager, click the applications tab, highlight the Roxio application 'Product Registration' then click end task.

 

To register new software go here, top of the page, My Account, http://www.roxio.com/enu/default.html

 

Signin, the next window, MyAccount, Register a New Product.....

The "On-line Registration" screen appears when I attempt to open the Easy VHS to DVD program from my desktop. I had already installed the product and was trying to use the program for the first time.

 

And opening Task Manager and clicking on the applications tab to close the frozen "on-line registriation" screen doesn't work because it doesn't appear as an open program. The only way to close out the screen is to go to the Processes tab in Task Manager and then click "end process" for the Roxio Central program.

 

Thanks for the link for your recommended method of installing software. I will uninstall the Roxio Easy VHS to DVD program and then install again -- for the fourth time.

I re-installed again using cdanteek's recommended installation method. This time, I cancelled immediately upon receiving the "online registration" screen (only have about two seconds before you get the next screen that freezes) and I was able to bypass it and load the application. thanks for the assistance.
