Unable To Capture Video Footage Onto Creater 2009

annieh

Question

Hi

Can you please help.

I recently purchased the creater 2009.

I have a JVC GR-DX25EK digital video recorder. When I am trying to capture the video footage eventhing seems to be going fine but when I try to review it there is nothing.

I can capture the video footage on the software that came with the video recorder but cannot do it with the creater 2009.

Before this I had another roxio programme which worked fine until a few months ago then I started having problem burning to DVD and that is why I upgraded to the creater 2009.

I dont have a problem doing a story board with pictures and music, it is only with the video footage.

All help and assistance would be greatly appreicated.

Regards

Ann

That digital camcorder does not have a Firewire jack which is what Roxio uses for video. USB usually won't work. Therefore you must use the software that came with the camcorder to do the capturing either as mpg2 or AVI. You can add the file to Video Wave to edit it.

Hi

Thanks for your help with that. Will I be able to get a Firewire jack for the video?

annieh - doing a quick Google, I found the JVC GR-DX25EK is a miniDV tape camcoder sold in the UK. It does have firewire DV OUT, but not DV INPUT (because of some tax). So check your computer to see if it has firewire. Most computers sold in the past few years do. Buy a firewire cable and that should solve your issue. Don't buy a really cheap one. They can cause issues, too.

By the way, the software that came with the camcorder does capture via USB, but at a lower resolution so you aren't getting the full quality available from the camcorder.
