Another option would be the following:

- Save the AVIs as a disc image

- Mount the created disc image

- Add the Video_TS folder to the DVD-Video project

- This will add the AVIs into the project as separate entries

- Arrange the clips in the order that you want them played

- Select the first clip, then shift-select the second

- Click on the Edit menu of the main menu bar (not the one associated with the clips)

- Select Merge Clips from the menu

- Burn to disc

Thanks for pointing this out. Someone had mentioned joining movies but I didn't know how they did it.
