I have found two problems with Toast 9.04 using chapter markers from Final Cut Express 4.0 Quicktime HD (1440x1080i) files. The first is that the first chapter marker is dropped and subsequent chapter markers are placed early by the time position of the first (dropped) chapter. For example, if the first chapter is at 8 sec, it does not appear and all subsequent chapter markers are 8 sec early from where they were placed by FCE4. The second problem with chapter markers is that the chapter buttons in the BD don't function properly. The beginning chapter marker button on the menu (not placed by FCE4) works OK but all others (that were placed by FCE4) don't work but just return the cursor to the first marker button on the menu. The skip to next chapter and skip to previous chapter buttons on the BD player controls are functional with the BD created by Toast 9.
Other comments are that the encoding is extremely slow (about one hour per minute of video when using Automatic and Best quality. I thought FCE4 was slow in taking about 5 hours to encode back into HDV for the camera to record. My camera encodes in real time. I would also like to see the ability to select the chapter button still pictures from the video (as in iDVD) because the video at the chapter marker location often does not best show the content of that chapter. The written chapter titles that were inserted by FCE 4 are not utilized by Toast 9.
My computer is a dual 2 GHz powerPC G5 running 10.4.11.
