DISC Copier won't copy Drag-to-Disc CD

bayou_bomber

Question

I copied some image files to a CD using EMC 8 Drag-to-Disc (DTD). I finished and the CD works fine and I can read it on other machines. I wanted to copy the CD a couple more times. Instead of Drag-to-Disc several more times, I decided to use Disc Copier. This is the Error message I get and it will not let me do it.

ERROR: Copying of this type of disc is not supported. More information is available by clicking the Explain button.

So I did and this is what I got.

Error while copying a disc

Not all discs can be copied. For example, some DVDs and music CDs are created with a copy-protection feature. CDs created with packet-writing software such as DLA (Drive Letter Access) and Drag-to-Disc also cannot be copied using the Copy Disc project.

Be sure the disc you are trying to copy is not copy-protected and is not a CD created with packet-writing software.

DLA and similar products allow you to copy files to a recordable CD or DVD disc by dragging the files to the disc window or icon. The software is provided with many new computers and disc recorders.

Note: Disc Copier, a component of many Roxio software suites, can be used to copy some CDs created with Drag-to-Disc. Please see the Disc Copier Help Center for more information.

The note above says I can use another component, but what component.

Editorial: This is very disturbing to know you can not make a copy of a DISC YOU CREATED and WITH the SAME software.

I have EMC 8 installed and there is no there way I can see to copy files to to a CD without DTD. Maybe some cumbersome project, but thats beats the purpose of DTD. I do not see how to use MS Explorer's version of copy to CD with EMC 8 installed.

Can anyone help me copy a DISC made with EMC8 DTD?

Thanks

Howard

D2D is packet writer and as the message explained, cannot be copied with Disc Copier. Packet Writers in general are the most unreliable form of burning ever devised. Never use it for archiving.

You can "copy" it by using Classic. Add the files from your D2D disc to a new Project and burn the project. This will make a Data CD or DVD and you can select the number of copies you need.
