Question

 I've been involved with software right after the invention of dirt & I can't seem to figure out the steps for creating a dvd.

The result I'm trying to achieve is:

I have scanned photos, video, music, on my hard drive, in file folders & want to include them into a Roxio dvd project & then add text, voice, and etc., which sounds like I do through MyDVD, but do I have to create all this as a project first? The more I read (and I have Roxio 'Easy?' for dummies)...the more lost I become...please someone, if you can give me a step by step creation method, from point 1 to point, whatever, I would appreciate it so very much......then please submit your name to Roxio to write a technical software book for blondes.....thanks! :)

The first thing that you need to do is read the User's Manual. If you did not get it with your software, then you can download the .pdf file.

The next thing that you will find is that you do not build your production in MyDVD. You build it in VideoWave. Use Media Selector to add your videos and your scanned photos to the project, as well as the music. You can add text to both photos and the video.

Thanks....I do have the User Manual, but it is not in order to create a project, start to finish, for a dvd movie which includes all media.

I'll write my own step by step instructions, as soon as I get it all figured out.

Thanks again,

Roxann

This set of programs can be slightly intimidating to someone who has not really used it and the manual doesn't necessarily tie everything together. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then perhaps a movie is worth a couple of thousand. There are short tutorial videos available to you get oriented. You can view them here.

Assuming you have the images and the videos on your computer and that you have EMC 8 and not one of the "lite" versions, review the video on VideoWave. This is the program that puts your production together. This is where you add the video, images, music, transitions, etc. Once your production is the way you want it, close VideoWave and open MyDVD. So you should review the tutorial for that. That is the program that allows to to create menus for your production and to get it ready to burn to a blank DVD (render to mpg2 file and to an iso file).

Once you have reviewed the tutorial, go back to the manual to get more details. If you run into a specific problem, feel free to come back and start a new thread with a question in that programs specific board. Right now, you have asked such a wide open question that a few thousand words may not be enough.
