Slow Cd Ripping

Just upgraded from Creator 10 to 2009 and noticed that ripping CDs to MP3 is taking 24-5 minutes PER TRACK instead of about 15 minutes for an entire disk. Using the same computer.

 

I have a Pentium 4-3Ghz, 1 Gb RAM, 150Gb HD (7500 rpm) and I'm reading from a DVD±RW drive.

Probably a disc with read errors / problems, the OS steps down DMA all the way to PIO mode. It will do it again with a disc that it has trouble reading!

Sonic suggested updating the PX engine and firmware of the drive. The drive isn't supported by LG anymore. Can you suggest reliable software to analyse the drivers and update them? I've tried a couple from online, but I don't like the underhandedness of saying they give you a "free" scan and then want $29.95 to upgrade the drivers.

 

Also I checked the DMAs and found one set to PIO Only and changed it. Now when I check again, I'm not getting the "Hardware" tab in Device Manager for the primary or secondary channels.

 

Was it Creator 2009 that messed this up? It was working fine before under Creator 8 and 10.
