A Question About A Download

PSUser

Question

I have Photoshow5 and haven't upgraded to Roxio because I make my photoshows only for my own enjoyment and not to share on line. It works great, and judging from some of the comments I have read, I am a little leary about going with Roxio.

However, I have a question I hope someone might answer. Today when I fired up my Photoshow I got a download message that says this:

ps.jpg

I hoped that worked as I took a screen shot of the message. My question is..if i take the download will that mess up my Photoshow5 as I have it nowand force me into getting the Roxio photoshow? With mine I have already paid for disc and all the service packs.

Thankyou in advance.

Okay..thanx for trying anyway. Have a good one.

I think if you need to reinstall it, you will need a different key. I purchased my Photoshow 5 from Simple Star 2 years ago, and it worked fine until I had to reformat my hard drive, and reinstall all of my software. I reinstalled from the original disk, but the key code was changed. DO NOT download the "Photoshow 5" desktop version offered on the Roxio site. It doesn't have some of the features you are used to. Also, I don't recommend upgrading your version if it works correctly. The music offered by Roxio is different, and does not include some of the old tracks. In my case, it was disappointing since I lost some options I preferred to the newer ones. My old computer still runs the Roxio version 4 program fine, as just a desktop program. At least you can still play your old shows, and create new ones. I also recommend archiving the shows you've created, and saving your archived files to an external hard drive, just in case. I learned this the hard way.

Go into the help menu and see what version # you have. I take it, from the way you word your post, that you did not get your photoshow 5 from Roxio. I am surprised that your getting this update window if what you have isn't Roxio. If it will continue to work without updating and you don't want to, then I would just ignore the window.

Thanx..I have been ignoring it and will continue to ignore it. I have version 5.0 and have had it now for several years and bought it through SimpleStar. Another question please.. if, for some reason I need to reinstall my Photoshow 5, and reinstall it, will it still work? I have read a few posts where people have tried this and the key will no longer work for them. Thanx again.

I wish I could tell you if it would work or not, but I don't know. Maybe someone else that has had experience with the software you have can answer this post. <_<

Thankyou Gramma for clearing this up for me. That really bites!!! I have forked out alot of money on SimpleStar..I have the earliest to the newest versions { not including Roxio's version of course } as well as all the service packs. It's maddening, and in my opinion, theivery to cheat people who have already got and paid for Photoshow. I already have all my photoshows saved to disc. Thanks again..did you loose all your photoshows? IF I should loose my program and then get ripped off by Roxio with a key code that no loner works I will NOT purchase Roxio or anything to do with Roxio. I will find some other program. I will also advise anyone thinking about purchasing Roxio to keep their money in their wallets and look elsewhere.

Guess Roxio learned from Microsoft's change from Windows 95, Windows 2000, etc.

You are complaining to the wrong folks. We are users just like you have have no influence with changing the capitalistic American way ! Guess you will need to go to SimpleStar for further help.
