Boy, is sisterscape lucky not knowing about Lightscribe

Frank....

LOL! I think I have to agree with you!! After poking around a little bit, I see that Lightscribe has to do with printable disk labels. Really, not interested in that feature or even labels at all! I just make a nice case insert and sharpie the discs. :)

LightScribe does not print to a label. It etches, burns, whatever, right to the disc. You have to purchase LightScribe compatible discs.

Although the quality is not that great yet, from what I have seen, it beats the heck out of using a sharpie.

Good grief Bruce, what did you do to your avatar ? And is that a red boot that is laying there beside him ?

Back to Lightscribe---You might be right Bruce about lightscribe beating out a sharpie, but that all depends on how talented one is with one of those sharpies :) So far as I'm concerned, after having one and trying it out on several different programs (including the update that Lightscribe has for making it sharper) it's still a long ways away from being what everyone wants. However, I suspect that sometime in the not to distant future they will improve on the technology to the point of having color and a contrast that will really be sharp.

LOL, that is the same dog as my earlier avatar, only SHE is grown up in this picture. That is a red boot that she played with when picture was taken some 5 years ago. She has her head in between the uprights on the stairs. She was looking for me to throw it for her. :)

Sorry, poor communication. I meant print the label right on the disk.

For my project, labels are not that important. Just a quick sharpie annotation is fine. I haven't even done much of that yet!

I just received an email notification of an update of EMC 7.5 to v. 4.5.2.49. My question is that if everything is working should I do the update or just leave well enough alone??

Had me stumped for a minute with that 4.5.2.49. It is really 7.5.2.49

This what is updated:Easy Media Creator 7.5.2.49 Updater Label Creator

  • Improved documentation with regards to LightScribe support

Disc Copier

  • Improved playback compatibility on some set-top DVD players.

Creator Classic

  • Improved handling of audio files in the Windows Media Player format (WMA).

No need to update if you have no problems with the topics.

First of all if you have the down loaded version of 7.5 it should already be updated to the latest version . However, if you purchased a retail version of the program, then I suggest you do update it as the update was surely not included when the retail version program disks were made. And some of the updates to that version, at least I think are worth while.

BTW, I assume you do have a retail version or you wouldn't have received a notification to update. True ?

That was some typo! Now corrected in the original post. I'm definitely of the "if it aint broke don't fix it" mindset so I guess I'll pass unless some problem crops up. Thanks.

Yes, a retail version. When I go to the updates page, that is the only update available. My current version is 7.5.0.47.

Since everything is currently working so well, I'm a little reluctant to rock the boat. But then maybe it could be a good thing. :)
