Poor Quality In Capturing

Debbie Legault

Question

This is a new program for me. I'm having a difficult time trying to capture my video with a good quality picture. I have tried capturing in vcd mode and the picture is very grainy, not at all like the video. When I capture in the other modes (dv, dvd hq, etc.), the quality of the picture is awful, the picture is grayed right out and very faded. It doesn't matter if I use the enhance tools or not. I have tried it in about 8 different ways. Is there something that I am doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Absolutely test on a TV and DVD player! Most people don't have calibrated monitors so video on the computer may look lighter or different colors. The only way to make sure the video looks good is by playing it back on the TV you will be watching it on.

Thanks, that wasn't the problem either.

I took the day and uninstalled the program, again, ran my defrag, re-installed the program and the updates, again. And everything seemed to work. I don't understand it? Thanks everyone for all the help and advise. Much appreciated. Debbie

Well VCD would give you the lowest quality under any circumstances, so stay away from that.

Can you provide some details, like what you are trying to capture from, how you have it connected to your pc, and some specs of your pc, what part of Creator 2009 your using to capture with.

There's many possibilities, so without the details, it's pretty hard for anyone to guess.

I am trying to capture from a vcr machine. I have the "roxio create 2009 special edition" with the devise that came in the box. I am running windows vista , intel core 2 duo cpu t5450 @ 1.66 ghz and 32 bit oprerating system and have 150g left of unused space on my computer. I have tried to capture through "capture video" in the home screen and capture video in the video/movie screen. I have chosen the usb 2861 devise. I have also tried to capture through "mydvd".

I have already been to that site and have done the suggested. Any thing else would help.

In the capture screen, make sure you are set to DV or DV HQ quality settings.

Likewise when you get to burning in MyDVD set it to HQ.

Get a disc or 2 of RW media for learning/testing and try some short captures taking them all the way through Burn and test on your TV.
