Creator 2009 will not run after installation

loveMusic

Question

SOMEBODY...ANYBODY...PLEASE HELP!!!

I am seriously about to loose it. First of all I feel like i've wasted a nice amount of money fooling with Roxio. I spent 30 freakin' dollars for a trial version of Roxio Easy CD & DVD Burning, and NOTHING on the box or during installation said anything about a trial version. I didn't know that until I tried to use it 1 day and got the message "trial version has expired." OK, so I go and give Roxio $80.00 more only to deal with this crap that I've been dealing with since I got it!!

My system is Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit. At first when I installed Roxio Creator 2009 I got a message about something with my driver. Ok, I fixed that problem on my own and finally got the software to install. However, when the installation finished I tried to open Creator 2009 from the star on my desktop and keep getting the message "Roxio Creator has stopped working". Seriously STOPPED WORKING...How does it stop working if I can't get it to open in the first place!!!!! I unistalled and reinstalled about 4 times, which took up most of my day. I am furious right now and Roxio...if the problem can't be fixed YOU WILL refund my $80.00!!!!

From your description, it has been frustrating!!!

Let's separate this, V9 Red Box only:

That works until your Virus Scan or Reg Cleaner wrecked it – results in 'Trial Version Expired' error. The fixes Brendon suggests leave you choice 1. or 3.

You could only use 2. if you do the reinstall. The CD Key is as firenhancer has indicated. This is the only way to get the V9 Red Box running again.

Of interest – the Red Box is a very limited suite of software. Are you sure that is what you really want? You have never stated what uses you are looking for. Your handle would seem to suggest Music CD's and mp3 discs??? This is can do but is very limited in Video.

Creator 2009: It relies heavily on the video card which many laps just don't have. You never listed the specs of your Desktop or Laptop – Operating System & Video Card of main interest.

Since 2009 is a more robust package, and I assume not returnable, I would concentrate on getting it installed. It will probably have to go on your desktop – based on the results you told us with the laptop.

If you will make the call as indicated, don't be put off by the $$$ charge. It does not apply to a new install.

Sometimes in dealing with a Retail Store. They won't refund money but will give you a store credit, minus a restocking fee... Something you might suggest to them if you get one of these up and running.

"Roxio Easy CD & DVD Burning "trial version has expired."":

You did not spend $30 for a "trial version" of the software. While it is a stripped down version based on the Easy Media Creator 9 version, it is not a trial version. However, there are some utilities out there that when run, like Norton One Button Cleanup, delete a registry entry that the turns the EMC v9 products into a "trial version". There is a fix for this problem here if you decide you want to go back to that product.

Creator 2009 errors:

Sounds like it did not install correctly, or there are some leftovers from the Roxio Easy CD & DVD Burning one. The only way to fix things up is to use the "Clean Install" KB articles. You should probably go through both the ones for v9 and for Creator 2009 to make sure everything is cleaned out.

Also, make sure you disable any Antivirus and Anti spyware software during both the uninstall and the install process. Some of theose can/probably will prevent the install from completing correctly.

Ok. So I finally got Roxio Creator 2009 installed on to my laptop because it would not install on my desktop. Now everytime I try to burn a cd my laptop freezes up/hangs and I have to actually hold my power button to turn off computer, which i feel is reuining my computer becauser I can't shut it down.

When trying to install on my desktop I used the suggestions in this forum such as installing the clean install. However using this installer and some of the other suggestions only made my NOT EVEN A YEAR OLD HP DESKTOP run slow and a lot of my programs would not come up. I totally uninstalled whatever Roxio items that I had on it and on top of that I had to do a system restore to get my computer working correctly.

Now that I have installed creator 2009 on my 3 WEEK OLD TOSHIBA LAPTOP it seems to be screwing that up too! Somebody PLEASE give me suggestions as to what I need to do to get my cd's to burn and to stop freezing up my computer. If possible please do not suggest anything that makes me go into my system to change anything, because it's ridiculous that I have to do that, as well as me screwing up something else trying to get a program to work correctly.

I mean seriously I want and need this program to work because the more it screws up the more I'm getting really pissed about the $80.00 that I spent for it...never the less I also purchased Roxio Easy CD & DVD Burning program back a few months ago for $30 and can't seem to get that to work either. I mean we are in a reccession and I really didn't have $110.00 just to throw away and GIVE TO ROXIO for products that don't work. I find it really ridiculous that I have to do all of this changing my system functions to my computers to get this #$^@ product to install and work properly.

Anybody please tell me how to get this program to stop freezing up everytime I try to burn a cd, or how to get a refund!!! Not only did I waste money on a product that won't work correctly, but now I'm wasting more money trying burn cd's that are no longer no good once they start to burn & stop.

FURIOUS!!! :angry2::angry2:

You have been bouncing around like a ping pong ball, which is why you can't get anything to work anywhere.

You have tried 2 completely different versions and tried one on 2 different computers…

What you really need to do is to invite a friend over who is computer savvy to give you a hand. Yes you will have to go into your Registry by this point!

Actually you could try calling tech support and they will try to walk you through it. Not that many laptops meet the minimums needed so your desktop would be the best bet.

Hi Jim, thank you for quick response. Yes I am getting truly frustated and disappointed with Roxio products. As for the red box (Easy CD & DVD Burning I cannot get the fix "Here is the fix for the stripped down Red Box software: http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=30562, because it says that I need a serial number, which I cannot find anywhere on the box or instructions manual. After everything that I encountered last week I decided that since Creator 2009 installed on my laptop that I would use that one for that, and the red box for my desktop, since I only had minimal problems (trial version expired) with that when it was installed on desktop.

Well thanks for your advice. I will try calling tech support this evening to see if they can resolve the problem. However, if there is a main serial number for the red box fix how and where can i find that?

Thanks :)

The "CDKEY or Serial No." for your product i.e. Easy CD and DVD Burning" should be located on the envelope containing the installation CD. At times I have seen the sticker for the CDkey floating inside the box becoz someone packaging the box got lazy. In the worst case and if you are unable to locate it anywhere, submit a ticket and provide POP for your product and Roxio should be able to provide you with a new key.

Thanks. I will try to do everything that you mentioned to see if I can get the dang thing to work. It's just really frustrating that I have to do this & that to install a program. I have never went through nothing close to this when installing other software. I also read what you wrote about Roxio Easy CD & DVD Burning. So you mean to tell me that I actually paid $80.00 for nothing!!! If I knew this about the Easy CD & DVD Burning I would not have had to buy Creator 2009. This really sucks and I am really starting not to care too much for Roxio products. Now I can understand all of the other reviews and complaints about there products. However, I thank you for helping me. I'll have to wait to get home to try what you mentioned. I will post something after trying to let you know if it did or did not work.

Your post is confusing. If you have Roxio Easy CD & DVD Burning in the red box. That forum is here.

As long as you purchased Creator 2009 online from Roxio, there is a 30 day return.

I don't understand what you find so confusing about my post. I thought that I put the information just as plane and simple as possible. NO I did not purchase & download Creator 2009 from Roxio online I actually purchased in a retail store. As far as Roxio Easy CD & DVD Burning (in the red box), I knew nothing about a forum then because I had no problems at all with it until I kept getting "trial version expired".
