I assume you are referring to Roxio Creator 2009 since there is no such program suite as Roxio Creator 9 but there is a much older EMC 9.

Of course you can use Creator 2009 to create DVDs to watch via DVD players. DVD creation has nothing to do with uploading or any Roxio Online service.

thank you. When I went to the Roxio site (sorry I did mean creator 2009) the demo went on about easy uploading to create DVDs. I guess they then mail the CD to you??? I just want to do it myself.

it was for Roxio Creator 2009... don't remember, but I think it was about creating a photoshow. Do they call one a "slideshow" creator?

Ok. Your statement "easy uploading to create DVDs" made me think you were referring to Photoshow.

Have fun in the beach!

Yes, that is correct. As a hint, ahead of time, use Videowave, not the SlideShow Assistant. Videowave gives you much more control and options.

Yes you can create DVD Video slideshows with Creator 2009. Just make sure you review the requirements notes I posted before.

Also, if you go to the "How To" sections for v10 and Creator 2009, there is a lot of good tips and information in the Pinned posts at the top that will be helpful to you.

don't want to upload to the online service. can i make my own DVDs on my computer to view on a stand alone DVD player for TV viewing

Don't know. You didn't give enough information to answer your question.

Exactly what Roxio product do you have? Open it up, go to Help -> About and list the version.

What optical drives do you have on your pc? A DVD writer is required to burn a DVD disc.

You can also use Roxio EMC 7; 7.5; 8; 9; 10 and Creator 2009 for making DVD's. All of those Roxio programs will be able to burn DVD's that you can play on any DVD player. As long as you have the right hardware, as Larry was asking about.

Frank...

Ah, so your asking a question about the products before you have one. That makes your OP a bit more clear.

Are you asking about Roxio Creator 2009 (which is not the same as the 'two versions old' Easy Media Creator 9 )?

Yes it has the ability to create DVD discs and there is no uploading to any online service required. You do need to have a DVD drive capable of writing(burning) discs (not the same as a DVD-Rom drive) and your pc will need to exceed the minimum requirements listed. They would barely allow you to do any video work.
