Plug And Burn

Robyn

Question

I am using creator 2009 and it works great to edit my digital movies and pictures. I have not had any problems with creator 09. My next project was to do a VHS to DVD Capture. I just purchase the Roxio Video Capture USB device and driver instlation disc. I installed the driver as instructed. When I go to Plug and Burn there is no USB device listed in the dropdown box. Every thing is connected correctly. Any suggestions?

Sorry for such a dumb question, how then do you capture an analog video and audio feed from vhs using the supplied usb divice? The instructions stated to use plug and play. Is there someting that I am not understanding?

If you purchased the Roxio VHStoDVD program, it comes with it's own set of Cables (USB capture device hardware, analog video & audio cables) and when you run the program it is very similar to the C2009 program, but the USB capture devices are not the same. Using the VHSto DVD program, just click on "Capture Video" when the program comes up and choose the USB 2861 device as the driver. Works great.

Frank, the OP stated he has Creator 2009 not VHStoDVD. He appears to have bought the USB device separately not as part of VHStoDVD.

My understanding, from your OP, was that you have Creator 2009 and purchased just the Roxio USB capture device, not the Easy VHS to DVD software. Is that not correct?

Plug & Burn using the Roxio USB device is not an option in Creator 2009. It is an option in Easy VHS to DVD.

Creator 2009 and Easy VHS to DVD cannot both be installed on the same pc at the same time. they will conflict with one another.

Creator 2009 has a lot more apps and features in it than Easy VHS to DVD does.

Using the USB device with Creator 2009, you capture your video to your hard drive as a file. DV-AVI is the best quality. If you need to edit the captured video file, you do it in Videowave. When you want to burn a DVD, open MyDVD and either add the Videowave production (if editing was needed) or add the video file (if no editing was needed), then burn it.

That is the way I see it and your assessment of the programs is correct Larry!

Actually the P&B of Easy VHS to DVD isn't really a P&B at all!!! It does a Capture to HD, then Renders and finally Burns… it is really an automatic completion of the steps and not really a true P&B in any sense of the term.

You're absolutely correct Walt. I should have used the work "PURCHASE" rather than "Purchased".

In Creator 2009, Plug & Burn only works with cameras connected to your pc using a firewire port. It is not a supported function when using the Roxio USB capture device.
