Installation/uninstallation/update

dispatcher909

Question

I've been a Roxio Customer for a number of years, but, Creator 2009 is really trying my patience. I recently did a complete uninstall, as per Roxio directions. Attempted to reinstall the software from a previous download. as the install started, I-Tunes started. Removed the old software downloads, cleared recycle, and, began all over again with a fresh software D/L. After the program finished extracting the files and removed the temporary files, My Norton System Works program began extracting it's files.

Have run a quick scan with Malwarebytes, current edition and signatures, Norton Anti_Virus up to date and Norton One Button check-up. Haven't done Spybot yet but, that's underway momentarily.

The program was previously operating but, became progressively more unstable. (Video convert, etc.) That's basically the reason for the uninstall and attempted re-install.

Would appreciate any thoughts and or suggestions.....

Thanx!

Dave

Format c:/??? :o

Not as silly as it sounds, you have way too much wacky stuff going on there!

I would get a new HD, format and install it there. If it works, there are utilities to transfer data & info from you old HD to the new one. You still have to install the programs, but look at it as a good Spring Cleaning

I think you may be a expert out here.....I cannot get past the directx9 error. I tried to find the setup.dll in my windows32 folder and it is not there. What do you recommend? I tried the clean install but I still get stuck at the directx9 error.

If I could diagnosis come up with the correct solution every time, then I might agree

But as it stands, I’m not even close…

It is a weekday and you can resolve this much more quickly if you would call Tech Support. To do it here is going to require you run the gauntlet of 20 questions.

Probably got a lot of stuff going on, but, not enough, yet. A corrupted WinZip header was causing the problem. Replaced WinZip with a new version and it worked like a charm. However, Video compile and convert still doesn't work. Have a work around for that though. If you're gonna convert a file to DVD for instance Drag the file you're gonna convert from Windows Explorer to the left hand pane and follow the normal procedure. The Convert program will not open the movie file list.
