Multiple Vids Playing In Succession

monsterfishrescue

Question

Ok, I've got a ton of very short clips that I'm loading into one DVD.

In the menu I'd like to just press play and have the videos play one after the other. I don't want 25 different videos in the menu area

BUT! I'd like to be able to "jump to a scene" and the scene would be one of the multiple videos being uploaded...

Here's the story if you care. I rescue fish and have built a 1500 gallon aquarium. I did what you'd call a video diary of it, kind of like a step by step if you will. I'm going to be selling the DVD to help fund my organization so I want it to be user friendly. Click play and it plays all of the videos one after the other. Or select "jump to a scene" on the menu then scroll to which ever video you'd like to watch... I don't think this is too much to ask for is it? LOL

Thanks very much for any help you can offer :)

I've finished the project! I'm about ready to burn so I've got to finish my emails, click the burn button then go to bed! LOL

Know of any where that will make copies?

You can make copies yourself, but if you have to make a lot of copies, you will want to find someone who can do that for you. I don't know of any shops that do that.

Well, the burn didn't work... I think I know why though... I'll have to try again tonite... It took five hours to burn LOL

It is not the burning, it is the encoding of the files to a DVD compliant file type (mpg2) that takes the time.

Encode (burn) to an ISO (image) file first. If there is something wrong in the production, it will hang but you have not wasted a disc. If the ISO is made, simply copy that to a disc using Creator Classic (burn from ISO file). You can do that as often as you need to and to as many DVD burners as you have.

If it does not encode, go back to the Video Wave project and in the top menu, select output as (Film reel icon). Select "mpg2 for DVD best quality". If it completes, just add that file to MyDVD as the new movie.

If it does not complete, it will hang where the problem is. You can go back and find it.

A couple of questions, if you don't mind. What format are the original video files? How did you get them on your computer. How much time total are the videos (remember only 1 hours at best quality). Also please post your computer specs. 5 hours seems excessive unless you have an old slow computer or are trying to get more than about 2 hours of video in your production.

Open Videowave and create a new production. Bring in all the video clips. On Timeline view, put a chapter marker at the beginning of each clip. Save the production.

Open MyDVD. Create a new project. Bring in the saved Videowave production as a title (movie). Right click the title, select Edit Movie and go to Timeline view. Right click each chapter marker and select Convert to Chapter marker. Do this for all the markers that you would like to be chapter points. Get out of the editing mode. Right click the title again. Select Edit Chapters. Then click the Generate chapter menu and press ok. This should now create chapter menu for each video clip.

Preview the project. If you click the title, it will bring up the chapter menu screen where you can select any video clip and the movie will start playing from that point on to the end of the entire movie.

Let us know how you make out. Good luck!

I don't mind at all, but please bear with me as I'm not very computer savy... LOL

MOV.

How did you get them on your computer.

I've got a JVC direct drive digital video camera. I used the usb cable :)

A touch over three hours... LOL

I've got an HP Pavilion a1700n with window vista (the crap version) LOL vista had just come out when we got the computer and I can't stand it! I'm not sure what other specs I could give you... I've got an "AMD 64 Athlon X2" sticker on the front LOL

Here's what happened... I started the burn without a disk in, then put a disk in then canceled the burn then restarted the burn.... So I'm thinking if my dumb but puts the disk in first then hits burn project it should work. I've already burned one of presentations that I video taped... But it was only an hour and 10 minutes long... It's imperative I get all these videos onto one disk if possible, if not I guess i could split it in two.... That's as a last resort though :(

Thank you for all your help, it's much appreciated as I run a non profit org and this kind of support isn't cheap! I'll send you a disk when it's all done if you ever want to build a fish tank over 1000 gallons!
