I can not add my background music...

smr15012

Question

When I go to add my background music to a slideshow, it won't let me. It says that there are no media files in the folder to match the filter settings.

I downloade the music from the realpayer website and store them in "my documents" in the "my music" folder. It worked fine when I used the Media Creator 7 but now I can not get it to load.

What am I doing wrong?

Oh and in the filter type bar there is only one choice that lists wma way mp3 ogg flac ac3 m4a

I may not be back here until Tomorrow morning and hopefully one of the experts here will straighten me out!

Thanks so much!

Susan

Real Audio and Video are proprietary and not a supported format.

If you can find something to convert them into a format that is more mainstream, like mp3 or wav they will be usable.

You can purchase a program that converts ra (Reaplayer) audio files to mp3 or play the music on the computer while recording in sound editor by selecting the computer sound device as the source. The converter works quickly and is worth the $$ if you do lots of realplayer stuff, otherwise the other option is slow. In other words it takes 30 minutes to record a 30 minute program.

Oh just take a gun and shoot me! I downloaded the songs from Yahoo in the correct format, but now I can not add them to my video because it says "can not add a protected file"...I paid for the song shouldn't I be able to load it????

I would just play it and record it but I can not even figure out how to do that! I

I am about ready to cry!

If this is just for personal use and you do not intend to sell, try a burn the music CD RW and then copy them back to your hard drive (using Roxio Media Import). You will have to use the player that you used to download the Yahoo music. This is a DRM issue so it is not the fault of any software.

This works with other on-line music stores but I have not tried the Yahoo one.

The video is just for personal use, for my nieces graduation. I joined a website for MP3 Downloads, I downloaded one of the songs and it came in m4a format (or whatever it is) and now when I go to add it, it just says unable to add audio. I already tryed burning it to a CD-RW and tried to add it that way, and it still says unable to load, I even emailed it to myself and saved it in a different music folder and nothing!

It really pisses me off that I just paid all this money to upgrade to 8.0 and can not figure out how to do this!! With the 7.0 I had no problem downloading music and adding it to a show!

OMG....I don't really know how I did it.....I imported it from the disc through Roxio like you suggested and it worked!!! Well that is one song on, only 3 more to go!!!

I just have to remember everything I just did!

Your problem of adding music to your production has nothing to do with the software. It has everything to do with the recording industry. And in your first case, it is due to proprietary files. I quit using Real Player about 7 years ago, for that reason. It is junk, IMHO.

Downloading music from Yahoo, Walmart, and Napster is just fine. BUT, you have to download that music to a CD-R or CD-RW, right from the site, to avoid the problems with Digital Rights Management (DRM).

Once you have downloaded to a CD-RW, you can then rip that music to your hard drive, using Creator Classic. I recommend using a CD-RW, because you can erase the disk once you have ripped it to your hard drive.

I can not believe how EASY adding the music is once I got it all figured out!! I just download straight from the website and just add it to the video. I do not have to burn it first and then import it.

It cost me 25.00 for a "lifetime" membership (which we be outdated in probably a year) but it was a lot better then jumping off the bridge!

Thanks for everyones help.
