Hi jayko, I am not very experienced in using VHS to DVD as I just had a question answered very well for me. I can only say that the few times I have used it, I am copying from a Sony Camera to the connections as shown in the "Getting Started Guide" If I remember correctly, I tried also to click CAPTURE NOW button and nothing happens until you start the VHS (CAMERA) first. In other words : you have to start the PLAY on the Camera, then click "Capture Now" . It taks a few seconds for it to start and may lose a little of the beginning. See if that is your problem! It was mine several times. Norm

I believe that both of you are being truthful but on the other hand, I have installed and tested this on 3 different PC's and have yet to see it not work!!!

The only time I have seen it grayed out is when there was no signal.

To make sure we are all on the same page, you must do 3 things:

  1. make sure you have SP2 applied (pinned post at the top)
  2. double check the drivers in your Device Manager against the pictures cdanteek has in the pinned post at the top
  3. plugged into a port on the back of your PC

Do all 3 - don't try to cheat
