Scene Detection Stopped Working

Nadine H

Question

Maybe I have found a new one!!

I've been capturing video from old VHS tapes for the last couple of months. I've been able to get rid of a large number of old tapes. But I'm in a state of confusion at the moment.

In the edit process I sometimes need to break a video clip into scenes. From Media Manager I choose a clip, right click, and select "Scene detection" from the menu. Then I pick a place to create a new scene. Looks good so far. Then I click "OK" to close the scene detection window. Now the clip should have a little arrow in the lower right-hand corner to indicate that the clip has been divided into two or more scenes. Clicking on that arrow is supposed to bring up the scenes for that clip. But there is no little arrow.

I have defragged the hard drive, restarted Roxio, rebooted the computer (warm and cold), reinstalled Roxio, uninstalled Roxio, reinstalled it again, and I still can't get the scene detection to work again. :angry2:

Now, I am grovelling on the floor and begging for your help. What else do I need to do? Please???

I hope it is this simple. If it is you will be left muttering and shaking your head

At the top left of the Media Selector are 2 tabs: My Media & Folders

Both will allow you to select Scenes but only My Media will allow you to see and select them!

Folder (no scenes):

Ya know, I was really hoping that you were right. But alas, My Media is where I am. I just tried it again, and lo, no luck. Still the same problem.

I am truly perplexed.

Still groveling.

PS: thanks

Then it is broke and you get to do the Clean Install procedures –

Vista

XP

The trick to Clean Install is to print it out so it is by your side and follow it step by step using the More or Less method. (Don't do More than it says and don't do Less!)
