Converting Avchd Lite Mts Files

PatrickSF

Question

Is the latest version of Toast 10 able t properly convert AVCHD Lite mts files (like those found with the new Panasonic digita cameras). I have Toast v.9.05 and am able to convert the mts files, but the audio is out of sync. I've done a bit of searching and it appears that Toast v.10 also had a similar problem a while back, but I haven't seen anything indicating that it's been resolved.

I'm reluctant to upgrade from v.9 to v.10 if this issue hasn't been fixed. Thanks.

I was wondering if you found an answer to this question. I recently bought an Panasonic Lumix waterproof camera and have found that imovie accelerates the video while keeping the audio normal. I happen to already have Toast Titanium 9 which I use mainly for transferring tivo shows to my mac and burning them onto DVDs. Do you know if Toast 9 can solve the audio-video mismatch or if maybe 10 can?

thanks so much!

I started playing with AVCHD Lite over the weekend and it looks as if some sync issues still exist when converting this video (or authoring). This is something we're working on for a future updater to Toast 10.

Thank you for helping me with this issue. So, at the current time, there is no point using Toast 9 to convert the .mts files into another format for eventual use in imovie '09?

Fantastic news, I also am planning to pick up that camera, primarily for the AVCHD Lite video.

I tried a demo video from some website only a few days ago with Toast 10, although speed of audio and video appeared to be ok the video came out considerably darker than the input. Perhaps something else that is a bit at odds for an update?

Just for info, Handbrake also can convert the MTS file albeit with the same dark tone, VLC & Toast Video Player both display the source correctly though.

There are a lot of improvements in Toast 10 but I don't have a way to check if this is one of them. If you buy as a download from Roxio there is a 30-day refund policy if you decide Toast 10 isn't meeting your needs. My suggestion is to test it yourself. I've ordered a Kodak pocket camcorder that records AVCHD but I haven't received it as yet to give it a test with Toast. And that still may be inconclusive if the Panasonic camera records differently.

What are the specs of your camera's AVCHD files? Is the audio 44.1 or 48 khz? Is the video 30 fps?

Thanks for the reply.

The audio is 48 khz and the video is 59.94 fps. I've tried a number of different conversions and I seem to get the same audio sync issue with these files.
