Spin Doctor Crashes When Applying Filters

motowndave

Question

Every time I try to use the filter application on Spin Doctor, the program crashes. I am able to record album tracks and send them to i-tunes, but I end up with any hisses or crackles that are on the original record!

Are other people having this problem? Any way to improve this or is this just a bad program?

Could you add a little more information about how your system is setup and tell us what CDSD version you have? What system and OS are you running? How do you have your Lp device connected? Are you selecting a CD or DVD quality? This will help us to diagnose your problem a bit easier. :).

Well, I am having the same (almost) problem. I have not been able to get as far as filtering, though. I have a brand new Mac Mini, OSX 10.5.6 (Intel Core 2 Duo 2.26 Ghz, 4gb DDR3, 300 gb drive) Toast 10.0.2, CD Spin Doctor 6. The music gets recorded on the Mac drive (from the peamp to the ADS Instant Music box to a USB port), but as soon as I try to define tracks it crashes. Help!

Can you save the recording before defining tracks and then define the tracks from the saved file?

I tried that and crashed.

BTW I am glad you are available and helpful, but an actual Roxio support dept. would be a good thing. I'm still trying to get a refund from my Boombox return in January and now the even more expensive Toast won't work

I'm very disappointed in these folks

Let's see if we can figure this out. I'm presuming you're using version 6.0.2 of Spin Doctor that is included in the Toast 10.0.2 update download.

1. Trash the spindoctor plist file in your user>Library>Preferences folder. Relaunch Spin Doctor. Does it work without crashing now?

2. Temporarily remove any VST plugins that are in your User>Audio>Plugins>VST and Computer>Audio>Plugins>VST folders and relaunch Spin Doctor. If this fixes the crashing then replace the plugins one at a time until you find the one that is conflicting with Spin Doctor.

3. Test with an AIFF audio file from a CD or other source that wasn't recorded with Spin Doctor. You can do this by choosing Open an Existing Audio File. If it doesn't crash then the problem you're having seems similar to the one I was troubleshooting with version 6.0.1.

Let me know if any of this makes a difference.
