Problem With Tivo Files

FrustratedRoxioPurchaser

Question

This fix worked perfectly! Thanks so much for your help. I wasn't too excited about purchasing new software. I'm burning again.....Thanks again.

I've had no such luck. I used to have MyDVD7, which worked fine. Through a long process, it got deleted from my machine. I have since then folloed the instructions posted, to the letter, and removed MyDVD7 and all traces of a Sonic/ Roxio product. I have done a clean installation of VideoLab 10. I still get the 'no tivo' error message, though. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

If your problem is with VideoLab 10 and not Easy Media Creator 9 [this forum], I suggest you post a question in the Videolab forum. HERE.

For clarity and completeness, here's the situation:

I'm running Windows XP SP3 on a dual core Dell XPS400. Plenty of memory and hard drive.

I have TivoToGo v2.4.xxx I have successfully pulled couontless shows over from the TiVo onto the PC.

In the past, I successfully used MyDVD 7 to then edit those shows and burn DVD's. I've done both short 30 min shows and long projects (like editing all the commercials out of Super Bowl XL)

THrough some unfortunate circumstances, I removed MyDVD7 without a way to restore it. (I'd bought it electronically). I bought Video Lab 10 to replace it. I followed the "purge" instructions from the Easy Creator suite just in case they would help, and then did a clean installation. I am still unable to get TiVo files into the project.

In MyDVD, I get an error mesasge that says "The file you are trying to use cannot be edited, and has not been added." In this particular case, the file is a standard def recording of a 30-min show on PBS. I have tried renaming the file to remove all special characters (leaving the .tivo extension in tact, of course).

If I try to use the Video Convert application, I gt a different error message. When I browse to the TiVo directory, I get the following message: "TiVo files have been detected. TiVo desktop 2.3 or higher is required to preview or use these files in a project." As I noted above, I'm running TiVo desktop 2.4

So that's it- I'm trying to burn TiVo files to a DVD, and Roxio seems to not be delivering o the advertised capability. Assistance in debugging would be appreciated.
