bgj
I guess you will have to call Tech Support, 1-877-769-4601. Is that the one that is $29.95 per minute?
bgj
You haven't stated what problems you are having. You might want to do that. OK. The only feature that will load is Plug and Burn. For the Audio features as well as Capture video the circle spins for a second and it doesn't go to loading. The Edit Video feature comes up with an error reading: "No Permissions to launch program". It will recognize the USB device for Plug and Burn so that works but what is up with the other features? I have Windows Vista Home premium. Any ideas are welcome! cdanteek
Did you install it under an account that has Administrator privileges? cd

It will recognize the USB device for Plug and Burn so that works but what is up with the other features? I have Windows Vista Home premium. Any ideas are welcome! I am a supporter of Windows Vista but the Home versions are not very well thought out in a lot of respects. The biggest problem as I am sure you are already aware is Vista's User Account Control (UAC) pretty much that box that pops up asking you to press continue all the time. While this is a great feature to have for security (and it has helped me thwart some bad programs) not all programs yet take this into account either while installing or while running. Also, in Vista with the up and coming UPnP technology the USB interfaces are monitored like network jacks and treated almost the same. Thus any firewalls or anti-spam programs, even those built in to Vista if you don't have any others installed, will monitor the USB jacks and could be blocking traffic if they are not configured correctly. Try disabling Windows Defender and Windows Firewall if you suspect this. Of course I would not recommend leaving them disabled but at least you can figure out the problem. I have not used the VHS to DVD program myself but there are some generic Vista steps you can take. Try to run the program as an administrator. 1) Go to wherever you launch the program from (start menu I assume) 2) right click the program and hit "Run as administrator." 3) Then click the Continue button in the UAC box. In theory any program that this program launches should also run with elevated permissions (as an admin) though that might not be the case. Another option is to try forcing the other program to run as an admin. 1) Locate the executable that is called when you press the button that tells you the program can;t open. 2) Right click and choose Properties. 3) CLick the Compatibility tab 4) Check the "Run as administrator" check box. 5) Click Ok That will force that program to run with elevated permissions every time it is run, even if you don't make the admin call yourself. Down side is that you will still get a UAC box whenever the program tries to run. If all else fails and you want to try one more Vista test, disable UAC all together. It will force a restart and then if your account is an admin account it will actually be running as an admin after the restart. This will let you know if it is indeed Vista's UAC that is blocking your program from running. I would like to restate that the Home versions of Vista tend to be very limiting as it is aimed at the non-technological users and limits many features and customization options. I had Home Premium on my laptop for less than a day before I realized that it did not allow me many of the features I needed. Keeping that in mind it could be very likely that the default settings for the home user could be blocking you in an attempt to protect you. Also one last big thing, make sure you have the latest service packs, I think they are still in service pack 1 but it is VERY important that you have it.
