Creator 2009 V11

cech

Question

After various CLEAN installations of Creator2009 on Dell 8300 XP professional platform I have the error message "C:\windows\system32\ICMP is not a valid windows image check installation disc" when I try to

load Creator or any sub programs. By OKing the Error window about 3/4 times Creator/or subprograms load and can use some functions but cannot create any Burn Project to a disc.

I have been using Easy media creator v7.5 for some years with no problems so I'm dissapointed with the so called NEW version from the box.

The Roxio experts seem to have given up on the problem and suggest I remove around 6 or so of my other software eg. Pinnacle studio 10 etc. NOT an option. Can anyone out there Help.

Thanks steve for the info. It would seem to tie to Network activity based on the ICMP definition. Does Creator

call on the Internet when loading? My firewall is Norton Internet security.

Regards Cech

It can and you can turn it off from the main screen under options. I don't think it is going to be that simple.

I hate Norton ! People ask me to help them when they have problems and usually Norton is loaded on their computer. I ask them to tun it off and they can't find out how.

Problem solved thanks to you Steve not to the Roxio Tech Support.

After understanding what the ICMP.dll was for,I checked the date on the version in folder c:\windows\system32\

and found it was 2002 in another folder on my PC I found a version dated 2008. Replacing v2002 with v2008 cured the problem. My thanks again.

Are you trying to run the program on a Network? It won't work. Are you using the Windows Firewall?

Sound like an XP error; not a Roxio software issue. Read this about ICMP. Perhaps something went haywire during those uninstalls.

The above is from doing some searches; other people who work with computer problems may have other ideas.
