Sp3 Installation Issues

roxiouser71

Question

I just bought a new computer and installed Roxio Creator 2009 (regular, not Ultimate). Everything went fine except I can't install the SP3 Update. I get the error message:

Software not found

Roxio Creator 2009 could not be located on your system. Re-install Roxio Creator 2009 and then run this patch again.

Here's what I've already tried to resolve this problem:

1. clean uninstall (ie: removing registry, etc)

2. rebooting

3. reinstalling

4. I tried the patch 2009ContentDiscError_HotFix.zip

I have Windows Vista Premium 64-bit SP1 with all updates applied. I am installing Roxio Creator 2009 from a store purchased disc, not a download. I have checked the sytem requirements and I meet or exceed them all. Roxio runs perfectly right now, so I know that the program is installed. The problem is only that I can't install SP3 because it says Creator 2009 is not installed on my computer even though it is.

Please help me install SP3 correctly because I can no longer copy CDs because it say "no drive detected". I have also installed the latest px engine and rebooted, but the drive is still not detected although it detected fine before all of these SP3 issues.

Roxio Creator 2009

Version: 4.12.00a

Build: 411B33A, C11

Try the pinned post at the top about Clean Install.

I used the term "clean uninstall" in my first post and assumed that the following reinstall would be a "clean uninstall". If I am wrong, you will need to reply, but I think I have already done this.

Is that a version you purchased separately from the new computer or with the new computer?

If the only thing you're trying to resolve is the bolded part of your post, then I don't think the SP3 update is going to help anyway.

Since the v4 pxengine didn't help, try the v3 one. It works sometimes when the v4 one doesn't

**** PX Engine 3.0

This is a retail boxed copy.

Just to get Roxio to work, I had to uninstall again (removing registry, etc) and go back to original software (no service pack). The issue with the burner no longer exists and the pxengine now shows 4.10.28a, 34

But now I am not able to install SP4 because it says that I do not have Creator 2009 installed, yet I know I do because I just used it.

I am beginning to think that Roxio software is just a big mess. I may just try Nero.
