Creator Two Thousand And 9 Help

jomarr

Question

I bought Creator 9 just a few months ago and started having serious issues a few days ago after finally completing the production edits. Has anyone heard that Roxio no longer supports this product? I am not computer savvy and spent a lot of $$$ for Creator 9. I volunteer at school for deaf and needed to complete production for the kids this week (it was a musical they performed last month).I have spent hours putting still photos and music together and now I cannot access in videowave (the play button etc is greyed out). Now I am told this is a "legacy" and Roxio is not supporting their product. I am copying what Roxio "support" just sent to me after 2 days of emails. I also have never done a post before and I am sure I am messing it up!!!!!!!

Thanks

"The product you are inquiring about, Easy Media Creator 9, is a "legacy" application and is no longer supported by Technical Support. To keep our software prices competitive, Roxio Technical Support agents only support the latest release and one version previous - however Knowledgebase and Discussion Group support will still be available. If you wish to continue receiving Technical Support with a Roxio agent, please upgrade to the most recent version of your product"

Hi,

I downloaded/installed service pack but it does not do anything. It is strange because I can edit/replace my photos in videowave....I can chage the panel color etc but I cannot hear music or play. I am a little nervous about the clean unstall since it is very dangerous to mess around with registry. Are you familiar with software called " Eusing Free Registry Cleaner"? I have it but never installed on computer.

Can you tell me what is happening? What exactly is Runtime and why do I keep getting error messages? If there is such a problem with Roxio Creator 9 why isn't there a patch or something from Roxio to take care of it? I think to have a novice (with ADD!!!!!) go into the registry and maneuver things is really not fair.

I am starting to wonder why I even bought this software.

Jo

PS It is the same software on both computers.......

Doggone it ! Please use the correct identification. It is 2009; not 9 ! Are you doing this on purpose?

Can you get a friend to help with the install and uninstall ? :)

Do not use a registry cleaner. It may give you more problems that you can imagine.

BTW, did you buy two copies? The license is one computer per copy. If you bought it directly from Roxio within the last 30 days, return it for your money back.

Use Google to answer you general computer questions such as "Runtime" error.

Perhaps karri's videos (link) will help once you have the program straigntened out.

Perhaps if you identified the program you purchased correctly someone can give you the correct information.

There is no such program as "Creator 9". There is the >2 year old Easy Media Creator 9 (EMC 9) which is what the Techincal Support is talking about and that is no longer supported. The latest version is called Roxio Creator 2009 and is of course supported.

So please let us know exactly which version you have. Even if it is EMC 9, please post your problem with as much detail as possible. I am sure someone in these forums can help.

I was very specific and told them it was Roxio Creator 9. I opened a copy of a copy of the production and it worked. It was a copy from many edits back so I had to redo many things. Just as I was making progress I received the following error:

The error message is as follows:

Microsoft Visual C ++Runtime/

Runtime Error

Program..Gram files\Roxio Creator 2009\VideoUI 11\Videowave 11.exe

R 6025

- pure virtual function call

I did spend all day updating my ATI driver, direct x, adobe and thought I had finally on my way. After the error message, the same exact thing happened to my production as in the original note.....I can not access anything.......help!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, it's finally clear that you have Creator 2009

You have caused confusion here and with their tech support by abbreviating your version and calling it Creator 9, which gets interpreted as being Easy Media Creator 9, which is two versions older than what you have. Easy Media Creator 9 is not supported where as Creator 2009 is.

If you are going to re-contact their tech support, make sure you correct your information to read Creator 2009.

At this point, there is two things you can try before contacting them again.

First - go to the Software Updates page, click on the Creator 2009 link then download and install the latest SP3

If that doesn't help, then you'll need to follow the "Clean Install" process for your OS version to get it re-installed correctly.

thank you...I will try that. we have a computer downstairs with Vista and I have Roxio Creator 9 on that as well. If I cannot get this to work.......can I put all my photos , copies of production etc on a disc and download into the other computer? Will it affect anything as I really need to get this done.

Which do you have on the other computer, Creator 2009 or Easy Media Creator 9?

If it is the same version you have on the computer you are having trouble with, if you copy everything to the same exact location [ drive letter, folder, etc ] on the other computer, then you may be able to work on it there.
