What could I be doing wrong? I am using Roxio Creator 2009 and doing the following:
1. Click on ‘Copy and Covert’ from the main window
2. A new screen comes up and I leave it for ‘Video Compilation’
3. Under the ‘Source’ side of the screen, I click on ‘Add Movies’
4. The ‘Media Selector Screen’ comes up, I choose the film I want to burn under the file ‘My TiVo Recordings’
5. A dialogue box comes up stating “The maximum resolution of converted TIVO recordings is restricted. Resolution will be adjusted automatically.’ I click on ‘OK.’
6. From the ‘Destination’ side of the screen, I leave the ‘format’ option as ‘DVD.’ The ‘Output to’ is left to ‘Disc/Disc Image.’
7. Also on the ‘Destination’ side of the screen, when I click on ‘Options,’ I leave it to the following defaults:
a. General: Include this profile in the format selector
b. DVD: I leave the choices blank
c. Video File Conversion: I choose vide format to be ‘NTSC’ and ‘Always convert to preferred video format’
8. When I click ‘OK,’ it takes me back to the Source/Destination screen.
9. I click on ‘Burn,’ which brings up a new screen.
10. The top box of the screen shows the information about the DVD in my laptop
11. The ‘Save Disc Image File’ is clicked and shows the film that I want to burn.
12. In the bottom box, “Burn Options,” I leave the default settings: General Options write speed @ 8X; Burn Options: Write only (the other choices are test only, test then write); Advanced options have the following boxes checked: Buffer Underrun Prevention, Eject After Write)
13. I click “OK”
14. A “Video Copy and Covert” screen comes up which states that it is “Creating DVD,” which shows the progress of the burn.
15. After it is done, the DVD should be ready to play on a DVD player, but I either get “No Disc” or “Can’t Read” messages.
I also tried converting my TiVo downloads to DVDs by using the following:
1. I click on <Create DVDs>
2. The <My DVD Express> screen pops up
3. I leave the disc format to <DVD>
4. I click on the <Add New Movie> to pick the TiVo listing I want
5. After clicking on my choice, the first frame of the file appears on the screen
6. I leave the disc size to DVD 4.7GB, and choose <Fit to Disc> since my recordings are all less than the 4.7GB
7. I then click on <Create Disc>
8. The <Burn Project> screen comes up.
9. The first section shows information about the DVD in my computer, as well as disc label and speed (8x)
10. The second section <Image File> is left blank, as is the third section <Folder Set>. I then click on <Burn>
11. The <Burn> screen comes up to show the overall progress and encoding movie.
Using this second method has resulted in two DVDs that can play on my DVD player. However, when I try to edit the original source before buring, the edit button doesn’t come up for use. For example, I taped a 60 Minutes show, but want to edit out the first and third segments, keeping only the second one, but something isn’t working. Also, when I try to burn a movie from TCM, the only thing that gets recorded is the introduction, which gets burned over and over and over again, even though the actual feature shows up on the <MyDVD Express> screen while the burning is taking place.
Sorry for the long message, but I want to make sure I am doing something right, or showing what I am doing wrong. All help is greatly appreciated. By the way, I am using various brands of DVD-R discs, which don't seem to be the problem, but what I am doing.
