mdffyx
I've used a download program to load a youtube video to my hard drive. It is saved to briefcase as a VLC file. I can pull up the video very easily and view it BUT, can't successfully use Easy CD/DVD "burn" option to transfer video to a blank DVD disc. What am I doing wrong? mdffyx
Open windows explorer. Make a folder on your hard drive where you want to copy the files to. Navigate to the disc and select the .mp4 files, select copy, navigate to the new folder on the hard drive, select paste. I started over by beginning at youtube where I downloaded several files to my briefcase folder. These are mp4 files. I added these files to DVD Express. Then the "hourglass" symbols all changed to "circle with slash" "NO" files. DVD Express will not accept the mp4 files.
mdffyx
What are you doing wrong? You're trying to use the wrong program suite. Easy CD and DVD Burning (in the red box) does not support the .FLV video files that YouTube gives you, sorry. Thanks for reply. I can convert the FLV file while still at the aTube Catcher download site. Should I specify WMV or mp4? I have it saved now as a mp4 thru the VLC media player, in my briefcase. Should I store it instead on "c" drive as a program file instead? Thanks for your help. MDuffy
Brendon
I think you might be completely out of luck with this product. I'm very unhappy about this. One might expect a "free" program to be nobbled, but this "suite" costs money, and is not advertised as limited in any way. It has been engineered to deliberately prohibit the use of the most popular formats and codecs, to force you to buy a more expensive "full" version. I know that AC3 audio, and DivX or AviD video codecs have been deliberately disabled, and it looks from what you've told us that MP4 files are "out" as well. I don't think there's anything more that can be done with this software to get the result you want. :(

Bottom line I've surmised, is that various formats have been deliberately blocked. My question is 'What in Hell hasn't been blocked that DVD Express could possibly be useful for? I bought this software. My LG external compact drive came supplied with Nero software. I chose not to use the "free" Nero because its been rigged with a lot of "security" functions which aren't optional. You are forced to download and use them. So, I've got Roxio and its a hassle to use in some regards as well! I've been told of a program: ConvertXtoDVD. It will do the job but costs $50 bucks. MDuffy While waiting for reply, I tried the drag-to-disc feature which I didn't understand since having the software. (The inst manual assumes we know all about our computer.) Anyway, Drag-to-disc fixed the problem. Only downside is disc prob wont play thru TV, but will play thru DTD icon on computer. And, I can choose to copy several Youtube shorts onto one disc. Brendon
The "full" EMC 9 should do the job, too, and can probably be picked up quite cheaply from eBay or Amazon. Here's the list of accepted file formats from MyDVD Express . . . I think the way Easy CD and DVD Burning (in the red box) was marketed was dishonest. The price charged gave no indication to a buyer not experienced in Roxio marketing, and the packaging and advertising gave no indication that the suite was actually crippleware. I haven't noticed any more similar incidents, so perhaps the perp is no longer with the company.
Brendon
I'm in a different time zone, so I've just come on-line. The list of Supported "Video files" in the MyDVD Express help file lists both WMV and MP4 for input [check it out yourself for the full list] but the help file is for the full EMC 9, and Easy CD and DVD Burning has a number of file formats intentionally blocked, so you'll need to try for yourself whether they'll work or not. Now, what are you wanting to do with the files you have downloaded? [1] If you're just wanting to STORE them on a disc, use Creator Classic and an unformatted disc. -Drag-to-Disc is a special system which can be quite useful for temporary storage on a disc that you will only use on your own computer, but the discs can't be used on a DVD player, and often can't be read on other computers. [2] If you're wanting to PLAY them on a DVD player you should load them into MyDVD Express, and convert/burn them to a Video-DVD [on an unformatted disc]. Yes I do want to be able to play the file on a regular DVD player instead of only thru my LG burner/player. I'll check out My DVD Express

I'll check out My DVD Express I have Drag to Disc disc with mp4 files on disc. Problem is how to transfer mp4 from disc to MY DVD blank. I would consult directions if "Easy CD/DVD" has any, but not sure "how to" exists in program. Will try to go back to Youtube and download vids direct to "Express" from Youtube.
