Blu-ray Questions

Question

I'm getting a new computer with a Blu-ray writer...so a couple of questions.

1. Does EMC 10 support writing Blu-ray files? VW seems to give 5 or 6 options for writing Blu-ray files but I don't know what these file types are. MyDVD only seems to support whatever my existing writer supports so if I had a Blu-ray writer would it support Blu-ray files?

2. Can you write Blu-ray files on a conventional DVD or DVD-DL disc or do these files have to be written on Blu-ray disks? I would be playing these disks on a Blu-ray player.

thx....

EMC 10 will only write DATA files to BD.

If you buy the BD Plug in you can burn to BD in MyDVD and burn AVCHD to DVD’s.

Those DVD’s will only be playable on a BD Player.

Edit: Just looked and all I see offered is a BD Plug in for Creator 2009???

The Creator 2009 Ultimate edition (includes BD update) and is a pretty nice package.

Thanks for the reply. If I upgrade I'll wait for the next release...whatever that will be. WRT my second question...any ideas?

Ouch that lost all sense when I added the strike through…

In the 2009 Ultimate (or with add-in) MyDVD will write AVCHD projects to DVD’s. However, those will only be playable on a BD Player.

The inverse is true too! If you have HD content and want to write it to DVD’s that play on a DVD Player, it will downgrade them to DVD quality.

Traditionally the next version comes out close to the end of the year. But it is not a written rule. They have already done 3 updates to 2009 which is unheard of in recent years…
