Extracting Clips From Dvd

lmrmax

Question

I have followed TSANTEE's instructions in his January 2009 post re this, but when I get to the point where I have set the trim markers and select Save from the menu, nothing happens. How do you save a clip from the extracted DVD? Thanks for any help.

When you choose Save and close the editing window the time showing for the video in the main Toast window should be only the portion you wanted to save. There is no change made to the video file itself when you click Save. Toast just knows to use what portions you marked.

I'm not sure what instructions of mine you read. Did you see this video tutorial?

Thanks, I had not seen that video tutorial. I will try to follow it, though the instructions go by very fast. I was referring to the sticky post from January 2009 re extraction. Thanks again for the reply, I'll let you know how it works out.

I forgot about that topic and just updated it with a link to the recent video tutorial published by Roxio. Their method is different from mine in how the video is added to Toast before entering the editor. Theirs is the officially supported method but my method has worked for several (but not all) VIDEO_TS folders I've tried. You can pause the tutorial at any point by pressing the spacebar.

Your initial post sounds like you did everything correctly. Click Save in the Editor (Toast Media Player) and close the editor window. Then convert the video to whatever format you want and it should only include those portions that remained after removing the portions you marked for deletion.
