Black Screen On Startup

Question

Every time I start Creator 2009, my monitor goes black for a few seconds, then comes back to the Roxio loading screen, then it goes black again, comes back again and finally loads. The program works ok after that, but I wondered if there is a setting I need to change. When I open Media Manager, the loading logo for it flashes rapidly, but it too eventually loads and seems to work fine. Suggestions?

List your system specs, especially video card. Certainly seems like a graphics problem

I still haven't figured out what's up with my computer. I tried updating all my drivers, including my chipset driver. I tried using different refresh rates, I tried running Creator 2009 in Windows 2000 compatibility mode. Nothing worked. To try to figure out what was going on, I took my software to work and loaded it on my OptiPlex 620 with an Intel 82549G Express Chipset. When I compare my computer configuration at work with the one at home, the only significant difference was the processor and chipset. The computer at work had a slightly faster processor and a different chipset. Everything else was practically the same: memory, display settings, refresh rate, direct x 9 version, support pack version, etc.

Yet, the screen did not go black when I started Roxio at work. Loading Media Manager still resulted in a rapid flash of the load screen, but the flashing was not as prolonged and the program loaded much faster. Any suggestions?

On you home computer, try 4 things.

1)Update DirectX 9C

2) Go to start>run>type in dxdiag>OK>go to the display tab and make sure that under features, everything is enabled.

3) Right click on "MyComputer" select properties and then advanced, then performance, settings. In the choices, select "adjust for best performance"

4) Make sure that Windows is set to 96dpi.

See if that helps.
