Sp4 And Cineplayer - Insufficient Video Resources

Big_Dave

Question

I applied SP4 to Creator 2009 with the hope that it would finally make Cineplayer function. Previously with SP3 Cineplayer would fail at the splash screen. Now under SP4, I get the following message: "The application can not be launched due to insufficient video resources". I don't think that is possible with my NVIDIA 8600M GS with 512 mb.

Anyone else run into this issue?

Yes I have the same issue. I've tried everything that tech support has told me to do and more. Since I had a hard drive failure last month while on vacation there was not much on the new one I installed. I just completed a complete HD format and Windows Vista Ulitmate install. Applied all the window updates. Downloaded the Direct X Pack. Updated the GeForce 8700M GT driver. Installed Roxio Creator 2009 Ulitimate with all other programs and antivirus disabled. Installed the SP4 and still have the same problem.

I'm totally ticked. This problem has been around since 2007. I'd think tech support, Sonic, or Roxio would have figured it out by now.

Diving back on my ticket one more time. It's been open for over a week.

Since Creator 2009 only came out last fall, how can the problem have been around since 2007?

I finally resurrected XP and slipped stream in drivers, chip set, SATA support and installed XP on my laptop. I used n-Lite to build the install disk.

The good news is Cineplayer works under XP-PRO. The bad news is I know why I don't like XP and still prefer VISTA.

So, Cineplayer still fails under VISTA Home Premium and Windows 7 RC1 but works under XP-PRO.

I backed off the NVIDIA video 179.48 beta release to the "blessed" HP 177.13 release and still receive the same message.

Did you try using the tools options in CinePlay to turn off the video acceleration?

BTW, make sure your card is set to balance or best performance and away from high quality. Also make sure anisotropic filtering and antiailiasing is set to program (software) controlled.

What happens when you run the rendering test in Video Wave?

Dave has never been able to get CinePlayer to run. Can’t get to the toolbox if it doesn’t run

I thought that he could open it, but was unable to play videos. I guess we need a better definition of "run". (I didn't read the post very well. I now see that the failure is at the splash screen.

Did you ever ask if he had the older version of CinePlayer installed with those codecs? Start>Settings>Control Panel> look for the red man icon and right click on it. The codecs should say not installed. Clicking on any of the options should give an error message. The install of newer versions of EMC or Creator should have removed the program. I don't think that two of them can exist on the computer at one time.

Cineplayer, in EMC 10 works, after Creator 2009 is installed. The EMC 10 Cineplayer is a different version than the Creator 2009 version.

The Cineplayer, in Creator 2009 works, also.

Prior to the Creator 2009 days, the installation of EMC 10 removed the EMC 9 Cineplayer, and the EMC 9 home page Cineplayer link, but it left the EMC 7.5 CinePlayer alone. This is, if you had both EMC 9 and EMC 7.5, on your computer, prior to the installation of EMC 10.

Creator 2009 removed the EMC 7.5 CinePlayer but left the link for it, on the EMC 7.5 home page. However, when you click on the EMC 7.5 Cineplayer link, it opens the Creator 2009 Cineplayer.

I can get to the "red man" cineplayer Decoder Options in the Control Panel. Both Video and Audio decoders (version 4.2) are installed. I am unchecking the options and rebooting to see what happens. If that works I'll let you know.

I have yet to try sp4 under Windows 7 but Cineplayer from Creator 2009 wouldn't run under W7 either.
